Pink is for boys

In 1918, a popular children’s clothing magazine noted that pink was a more suitable color for boys and blue, because it is more dainty, is better for girls.

So why do we have such strong feelings toward the complete opposite today? Is it because we innately feel and attraction to those colors as boys or girls? Is it cultural? Or, just maybe, it’s marketing.
